Kier Graham Defence<\/a>, Morgan Sindall<\/a> and\u00a0VolkerStevin<\/a> have been appointed to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation\u2019s (DIO) prestigious new \u00a31.3bn 10-year Clyde Commercial Framework (CCF)<\/h2>\n

The three organisations will provide guidance along with construction and infrastructure services for the Royal Navy\u2019s nuclear base at Clyde in Scotland.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Defence (MoD)<\/a> aims to have all 11 of its nuclear submarines based at the facility by 2020.<\/p>\n

Branded the HMNB Clyde, the site\u00a0also serves as the Royal Navy\u2019s single integrated operating base.<\/p>\n

The framework was procured through the DIO with backing from consultant firms including Jacobs<\/a> and Mott MacDonald<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The DIO said selection had been based primarily on the company\u2019s relationship with the Clyde team as well as its ability to work collaboratively.<\/p>\n

Different methods of procurement had previously been employed to \u201cvarying degrees of success\u201d, the client said, adding that on this occasion\u00a0it wanted an approach that delivered \u201cnot only a good construction company but a good partner\u201d.<\/p>\n

DIO<\/a> assistant head of commercial services\u00a0Ian Arbuckle said: \u201cWe have successfully selected three reputable industry partners who have demonstrated a commitment to delivering better value for defence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brian McQuade, Managing Director for Kier Construction<\/a>, Scotland, said: \u201cWe are thrilled to have been appointed to the DIO\u2019s new Clyde Commercial Framework working in joint venture with Graham. Kier was one of the first companies to sign the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant in 2013, putting it at the heart of its policy, and understanding the importance the construction industry plays in supporting the nation\u2019s defence and security. Together we look forward to providing high quality buildings and infrastructure to HMNB Clyde, which will allow the Ministry of Defence to continue to carry out its vital operations effectively.\u201d<\/p>\n
