Havering and Wates Regeneration LLP \u2013 the joint venture between the London Borough of Havering and Wates \u2013has announced the design team that will work on one of London\u2019s biggest housing regeneration projects<\/h2>\n

The team, which includes BDP<\/a>, JTP<\/a>, Conran and Partners<\/a> and AECOM<\/a>, will work on Phase One of the housing regeneration projects, which will see four sites across Havering regenerated<\/a> to provide hundreds of homes<\/a> for local people.<\/p>\n

Phase One will include the Waterloo Estate and Queen Street in Romford, Serena Solar and Sunrise Courts in Hornchurch, and Napier House and New Plymouth House in Rainham.<\/p>\n

The plans are part of a wider scheme that will provide around 3,000 homes in Havering over the next 12 years.<\/p>\n

AECOM will provide mechanical, electrical and plumbing services, while GL Hearn will act as planning consultants.<\/p>\n

Peter Brett Associates<\/a> will manage traffic and transport, while Clarkebond<\/a> will provide civil and structural engineering expertise<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All of the companies have been chosen to work on the housing regeneration projects due to their expertise and experience in estate regeneration.<\/p>\n

Residents in Havering will be encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions for improvement on possible designs for Phase One of the housing regeneration projects in July.<\/p>\n

Three architects \u2013 Pollard Thomas Edwards<\/a>, Hawkins\\Brown<\/a> and Hunters<\/a> \u2013 have also been appointed to a framework for Phase Two and Three of the scheme, which will include eight sites across Romford, Hornchurch and Gidea Park. They are currently undertaking feasibility exercises.<\/p>\n

The project will deliver improved housing for local people, doubling the amount of affordable homes on the 12 estates and increasing council rented accommodation by 70 per cent.<\/p>\n

Paul Nicholls, Managing Director of Wates Residential South, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to work with this talented group of designers as they will bring a high level of skill and expertise to this project.<\/p>\n

“We look forward to seeing their designs and working with the council and residents in Havering as we deliver more than 3,000 homes for local people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Damian White, Leader of the Council, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased that our ambitious plans to build more council homes for local people are progressing well as clearly demonstrated by these contracts being let.<\/p>\n

“The level of apprenticeships<\/a> is heartening too and shows how local residents will also benefit in many and varied ways as a result of the investment of our joint venture in the borough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wates Residential and Havering Council have also made a joint pledge to deliver a lasting legacy for the community through investment in local facilities, skills, education and training.<\/p>\n

Commitments include school engagement programmes, free courses for long term unemployed young adults and the delivery of around 165 apprenticeships over the life of the scheme.<\/p>\n
