Downing Construction<\/a> has been chosen to work on two student accommodation developments in London and Manchester<\/h2>\n

The projects will include a \u00a390 million 36-storey building made up of 841 student rooms and 40,000 sq ft of commercial space in London<\/a>‘s Vauxhall area.<\/p>\n

The Manchester project will cost approximately\u00a0\u00a350 million to deliver a block of student flats on Mancunian Way. The accommodation will comprise three buildings with 32, 10 and five\u00a0storeys – made up of 791 bedrooms in either studios or apartments.<\/p>\n

The projects will be created by Downing Construction for the property developer Downing Group<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ian Orton, managing director at Downing Construction<\/a>, said: \u201cThis current round of contract wins will take our workflow through into 2021 on secured contracts \u2013 putting the business in an extremely good position to continue to grow and explore high-profile projects across the UK.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur turnover for the 2018\/2019 financial year is set to top the \u00a3100 million mark for the first time. This marks a key milestone for Downing Construction and one we look forward to building on over the coming years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve established a core team that has grown in recent years in anticipation of this expected growth, and we continue to actively recruit at all levels.\u201d<\/p>\n

These lucrative contracts add to the ongoing growth of the business which has set out to push turnover to\u00a0\u00a3100 million.<\/p>\n

In addition to the group’s bustling workload of projects that have been set up and down the country, the contractor is currently working on a \u00a337 million mixed-use student accommodation development at Holbrook House<\/a> in London, as well as an\u00a0\u00a380 million Creative Arts Building for Leeds Beckett University<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The group also began work on-site at Phase Two of the City Village<\/a> development, following a \u00a338 million contract to build a 385 bedroom student accommodation which includes 100 residential rental units.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
