    Building Information Modelling (BIM)<\/a> is the process of creating a virtual data set of a facility before it’s built. BIM Level 2 accreditation shows that a company has a collaborative method of working during briefing, concept, design and construction phases. It also ensures that all parties can access and use design information, from a common dataset.<\/p>\n

    Royal HaskoningDHV began its BIM Level 2 journey with a goal: Save time, money and resources in their work, enabling them to provide a superior service to their clients with better outcomes. “We needed to improve our project outcomes via closer collaboration internally and externally,” said Casey Rutland, UK Director of Digital for Royal HaskoningDHV.<\/p>\n

    In addition to the targeted efficiency savings, working within a BIM process opens avenues for further Royal HaskoningDHV digital services. Gaining BIM accreditation also makes sure the consultancy is in line with the UK government’s policy of being ‘BIM Ready’ if they wish to work on centrally procured construction projects.<\/p>\n

    Rutland added: \u201cKnowing that LR<\/a> has a strong global reputation that sits well within the ethos of our company, we knew we\u2019d chosen the right partner to work with.\u201d<\/p>\n

    LR first performed a gap analysis and found that Royal HaskoningDHV already had a well-developed BIM strategy, a documented system and had undertaken some staff training. LR then created an open-discussion forum to encourage learning at each stage of the process. Working with and supporting Royal HaskoningDHV rather than just conducting a test, meant staff understood more about the implementation process.<\/p>\n

    LR helped Royal HaskoningDHV through:<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Expertise:<\/strong>\u00a0 BIM specialists helped dive into detailed processes, and came to realistic resolutions with clear aims.<\/li>\n
    • Vision:<\/strong>\u00a0Clarity was set out in the preliminary gap analysis report, which gave Royal HaskoningDHV’s team the ability to focus on what needed to be implemented in order to achieve BIM level 2 accreditation<\/li>\n
    • A successful outcome:<\/strong>\u00a0Royal HaskoningDHV became the first design consultancy to achieve Tier 1 Business Systems BIM accreditation with LR.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Rutland said: “Communicating and embedding a new way of working with our staff was always going to be a great challenge.<\/p>\n

      “However, knowing that LR has a strong global reputation that sits well within the ethos of our company, we knew we’d chosen the right partner to work with. In all, the assessment experience was a team approach to us achieving our accreditation.”<\/p>\n
