{"id":47127,"date":"2018-09-14T11:12:21","date_gmt":"2018-09-14T10:12:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=47127"},"modified":"2018-09-14T11:12:21","modified_gmt":"2018-09-14T10:12:21","slug":"worker-injured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/worker-injured\/47127\/","title":{"rendered":"Company fined after worker is injured during demolition work"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>A construction company has been fined after a worker was injured while demolishing a farm building<\/h2>\n<p>South Tyneside Magistrates\u2019 Court heard how, on 20 September 2017, an employee of Northern Structures Ltd was removing roof sheets from a timber frame farm building when he fell approximately 4 metres through one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/asbestos-risk-management\/43682\/\">asbestos<\/a> cement roof sheets onto the ground below, suffering a fractured spine.<\/p>\n<p>An investigation by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hse.gov.uk\/\">Health and Safety Executive (HSE)<\/a> discovered that, while a risk assessment and method statement were in place to remove the roof sheets from below, this method was then changed to remove them from above.
