Student Castle, leaders in student accommodation services has announced plans to build a 55-storey upmarket student accommodation in Manchester’s city centre<\/h2>\n

The development will house 850 studio flats in a staggeringly tall tower on Hulme Street.<\/p>\n

Founder of Student Castle<\/a> Edward Cade commented on the build: “The building will become a new Manchester landmark and provide spectacular views over the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe building also presents a significant windfall opportunity to redevelop a portion of an existing multi-storey car park adjacent to Manchester Oxford Road Station into a fully managed purpose-built student residence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Developers hope to have the build completed and open to the public by 2022.<\/p>\n

Glenn Howells Architects<\/a> will lead the design team for the project on behalf of GMS Parking Ltd.<\/p>\n

Alan McCartney, Studio Director for Glenn Howells Architects, said: \u201cThe design proposes a contemporary interpretation of the contextual red brick buildings present in and around Manchester.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/header>\n

\u201cIts proximity to the local universities, transport hubs and the city core makes the site location ideal for an emerging student development, combined with an ambitious vision to design high quality student living<\/a> where students would want to live.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe provision of SME incubation space also offers opportunities for small businesses to have an affordable workspace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ed Britton, Assistant Director of Deloitte Real Estate <\/a>and the planning consultant for the project said: \u201cThe Hulme Street project will directly meet the need to improve and increase Manchester\u2019s range of student accommodation by providing high quality purpose built accommodation, which will help encourage students to get out of city centre apartments.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe SME incubator space will help nurture growing businesses and supports the strategic growth objectives of the City and Oxford Road Corridor. The scheme demonstrates exceptional design quality and will make a positive contribution to the emerging Oxford Road cluster and Manchester\u2019s skyline.\u201d<\/p>\n

In recent years, Manchester has seen more and more high-rise buildings punctuate the city’s skyline. From office buildings to residential flats, tall buildings are starting to dominate in the city’s center.<\/p>\n
