{"id":47512,"date":"2018-09-27T11:08:34","date_gmt":"2018-09-27T10:08:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=47512"},"modified":"2018-09-27T11:09:56","modified_gmt":"2018-09-27T10:09:56","slug":"leeds-public-transport-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/leeds-public-transport-investment\/47512\/","title":{"rendered":"BAM &#038; Sisk awarded \u00a3120m Leeds public transport investment programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Leeds City Council has named BAM Nutall and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnsiskandson.com\/uk\">John Sisk &amp; Son<\/a> as its construction partners to deliver a \u00a3120m Leeds Public Transport Investment Programme<\/h2>\n<p>The Leeds public transport investment programme (LPTIP) is part of the long-term Connecting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/watson-batty-leeds-bradford-airport\/47452\/\">Leeds transport<\/a> strategy to overhaul the transport network in and around the city.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bamnuttall.co.uk\/\">BAM Nuttall<\/a> has been selected for Contract 1, and will provide the design and construction of the bus priority corridor and park and ride schemes.<\/p>\n<p>John Sisk has been awarded Contract 2 city centre gateways, focused on works in and around the city centre of the Leeds public transport investment programme.<\/p>\n<p>Work will be issued in phases, but the estimated total value of BAM Nuttall\u2019s contract is \u00a390m and Sisk\u2019s is \u00a330m.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is funded through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-transport\">Department for Transport (DfT)<\/a>, Leeds City Council and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.<\/p>\n<p>DfT approved the funding of \u00a3173.5m for Leeds public transport investment programme, subject to the city delivering the proposed public transport improvements by the deadline of April 2021. Consulting engineer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsp.com\/en-GB\">WSP<\/a> helped the city council develop its plans and the outline business case.<\/p>\n<p>BAM Nuttall Divisional Director, Gareth Farrier<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>said: \u201cBAM Nuttall is delighted to be a part of Leeds Public Transport Investment Programme. It\u2019s extremely satisfying to maintain and grow our presence, along with our designers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mottmac.com\/\">Mott MacDonald<\/a>, in such a vibrant and ambitious city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited at the prospect of working collaboratively with the Council and all of the other stakeholders to deliver their vision, and to have a positive influence on the lives and futures of the people connected with Leeds through smart and sustainable engineering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leeds.gov.uk\/\">Leeds City Council<\/a> Executive Member for Regeneration, Transport and Planning, Councillor Richard Lewis\u00a0added: \u201cI welcome the appointment of our new construction delivery partners, as we\u2019re very keen to progress this work.
