{"id":48685,"date":"2018-11-06T10:55:09","date_gmt":"2018-11-06T10:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=48685"},"modified":"2018-11-06T10:55:09","modified_gmt":"2018-11-06T10:55:09","slug":"workplace-injuries-construction-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/workplace-injuries-construction-sector\/48685\/","title":{"rendered":"No change in workplace injuries for construction sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The Health and Safety Executive has released its annual statistics for workplace injuries and ill health and has seen no significant change for the construction sector<\/h2>\n<p>Despite being a high risk sector for workplace injuries throughout the UK, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/rising-costs-construction-industry\/48671\/\">construction sector&#8217;s<\/a> injury and ill health numbers remain consistent for another year.<\/p>\n<p>The report shows 1.4 million workers suffered from work related <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/cuddy-group-collapses\/43757\/\">ill health<\/a> and an estimated 555,000 from\u00a0non-fatal injuries in 2017\/18.<\/p>\n<p>Although Britain continues to be one of the safest places to work, key figures for Great Britain show that in 2017\/18 there were;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>144 fatal injuries at work<\/li>\n<li>1.4 million working people suffering from a work-related illness<\/li>\n<li>30.7 million working days lost due to work-related illness and workplace injury<\/li>\n<li>493 cases were prosecuted and resulted in a conviction.
