{"id":49560,"date":"2018-11-28T10:13:42","date_gmt":"2018-11-28T10:13:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=49560"},"modified":"2018-11-28T10:13:42","modified_gmt":"2018-11-28T10:13:42","slug":"forth-crossing-bridge-constructors-fined","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/forth-crossing-bridge-constructors-fined\/49560\/","title":{"rendered":"Bridge constructors fined \u00a310,000 after worker seriously injured"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors (FCBC) has pleaded guilty to breaching health and safety regulations after a worker was seriously injured whilst carrying out a lifting operation<\/h2>\n<p>Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard that on 11 April 2015 Forth Crossing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/bim-ready-tool-bridge-planners\/49337\/\">Bridge<\/a> Constructors (FCBC) leased a large area within Rosyth Dockyard where an employee was undertaking a lifting operation to move two large crane mats.<\/p>\n<p>An investigation by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hse.gov.uk\/\">Health and Safety Executive (HSE)<\/a> found the operation to move the crane mats was a complex and non-routine, which had not been planned by a competent person.<\/p>\n<p>It was not appropriately supervised or carried out in a safe manner.
