WSP, one of the world’s leading engineering professional services consulting firms has been appointed by Transport for the South East<\/a> (TfSE) to develop a new transport strategy that will help unlock growth in the South East<\/h2>\n

Over the course of the next 18 months, WSP<\/a> will work jointly with Steer<\/a> (formerly Steer Davies Gleave) to develop a transport strategy in the South East up to 2050 to unlock growth and deliver increased productivity.<\/p>\n

Adrian Hames, Director at WSP commented: \u201cWith significant changes in mobility, it is important to think with a \u2018Future Ready\u2019 mindset and be agile in dealing with new technologies and other mega trends that impact on transport. That is why we will be using WSP\u2019s future scenario toolkit that will inform the modelling work needed to develop the transport strategy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The TfSE area is the largest contributor to the UK economy outside of London and includes international airports, major ports and some of the busiest rail routes and roads in the country.<\/p>\n

Covering environmentally sensitive areas such as the North<\/a> and South Downs, the transport strategy will consider the environmental and ecology aspects, while bringing together 16 local transport authorities and five Local Enterprise Partnerships<\/a> (LEPs) to enable more effective scheme development.<\/p>\n

As part of the framework, WSP will be the leading consultants on freight logistics and future mobility, making them successful on three of the four lots available.<\/p>\n

This latest appointment by TfSE marks WSP\u2019s success across all major Sub-national Transport Bodies (STBs) working now for Transport for the North<\/a> (TfN), Midlands Connect<\/a> and England\u2019s Economic Heartland<\/a> (EEH).<\/p>\n
