Work has begun on a multi-million pound development which will provide much-needed family homes in Speke, with up to 26 modular homes available to move into this Spring<\/h2>\n

119 two, three and four-bedroom homes, delivered by South Liverpool Homes<\/a> (SLH) with funding from Homes England<\/a>, will be built on a former school site on Greenway Road. The mixed tenure development, by house builder Keepmoat Homes<\/a>, consists of 109 homes for affordable rent and 10 homes for rent to buy.<\/p>\n

The development will be a first for South Liverpool Homes with the use of modular homes. Using innovative technology, an initial four homes will be built offsite by ilke Homes<\/a>, with the potential of a further 22 homes, before being transported to the Greenway development where they will be ready to move into in a matter of weeks.<\/p>\n

The modular homes offer sustainable benefits with low running costs for tenants, typically costing 20% less to heat than traditional new builds and enabling South Liverpool Homes to meet the demands for homes in the area at a speedier rate.<\/p>\n

Julie Fadden, Chief Executive at SLH is excited about what this new development means for the area, she said: \u201cThe Greenway development is a major milestone in our ongoing commitment to meet the housing needs of future generations in South Liverpool. Not only is it our biggest single housing development in Speke, it will also see the first modular homes built for South Liverpool Homes and we will be very excited to see the homes handover in spring 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cCreating training and employment opportunities is a given on a development of this scale and we are looking forward to working with Keepmoat Homes to create multi-skilled opportunities for the local community and developing much need skills<\/a> for the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carl Moore, Head of Home Ownership and Supply, at Homes England commented: \u201cIt is wonderful to be working in partnership with South Liverpool Homes in funding a high quality development, specially designed to meet the needs of local people.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis partnership is an excellent example of Homes England helping communities and providing affordable housing using \u00a34,145,000 from the Shared Ownership and Affordable Homes Programme. We look forward to continuing our work in the North West to deliver more affordable homes in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re also pleased to be working with ilke Homes to bring modern methods of construction<\/a> to this development, in the form of modular house building. This process complements the traditional building process enabling us to increase the pace of site delivery and accelerate the creation of new homes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new homes are expected to be completed by spring 2021.<\/p>\n
