{"id":53042,"date":"2019-02-26T11:07:08","date_gmt":"2019-02-26T11:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=53042"},"modified":"2019-02-26T11:07:08","modified_gmt":"2019-02-26T11:07:08","slug":"kier-arena-central","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/kier-arena-central\/53042\/","title":{"rendered":"Kier acquires Arena Central in Birmingham"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kier.co.uk\/who\/property\/\">Kier Property<\/a> has secured the purchase of <a href=\"https:\/\/arena-central.com\/\">Arena Central<\/a> in Birmingham from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.millerdevelopments.co.uk\/\">Miller Developments<\/a>\u00a0to develop three further phases<\/h2>\n<p>The main elements of the development will include Kier Property developing three office buildings, totalling 526,009 sq ft.\u00a0The buildings known as 5 Centenary Square, 4 Arena Central and 5 Arena Central will be phased over the next 5-7 years.<\/p>\n<p>This is a significant regeneration project which will be undertaken by Kier Property and enhances its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/kier-student-accommodation\/52245\/\">development activities<\/a> in the West Midlands.<\/p>\n<p>The opportunity will provide Kier Property with the rights to develop three further phases of the site\u2019s existing master plan.\u00a0One Centenary Square has recently been occupied by HSBC and in late 2020, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/groups\/office-of-government-property-ogp\">Office of Government Property<\/a> (OGP), formerly the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/groups\/office-of-government-property-ogp\">Government Property Unit<\/a> (GPU) for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/hm-revenue-customs\">HMRC<\/a> will occupy 3 Arena Central. Kier Property will take responsibility for delivering this building.<\/p>\n<p>The site sits within close proximity to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theicc.co.uk\/\">International Convention Centre<\/a> (ICC), the Library of Birmingham and Arena Birmingham (formerly the National Indoor Arena \u2013 NIA).\u00a0It is within walking distance of New Street station and Snow Hill station, along with the prime office core of Colmore Row and the retail areas; the Bullring and Brindley Place.<\/p>\n<p>The main elements of the development will include Kier Property developing three office buildings, totalling 526,009 sq ft.\u00a0The buildings known as 5 Centenary Square, 4 Arena Central and 5 Arena Central will be phased over the next 5-7 years.<\/p>\n<p>The site is within the Birmingham City Centre Enterprise Zone and therefore benefits from simplified planning and business rate savings. This scheme is part of a major redevelopment of 10 buildings consisting of offices, shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and a hotel through to Q4 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Gilman managing director for Kier Property North, commented: \u201cWe are delighted to announce the purchase of this significant 9.2 acre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/kier-residential-development\/52080\/\">development opportunity<\/a> at Arena Central.
