{"id":54903,"date":"2019-04-02T14:50:23","date_gmt":"2019-04-02T13:50:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=54903"},"modified":"2019-04-02T14:51:00","modified_gmt":"2019-04-02T13:51:00","slug":"city-of-london-tulip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/city-of-london-tulip\/54903\/","title":{"rendered":"City of London committee gives Tulip Tower the nod"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The City of London&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/democracy.cityoflondon.gov.uk\/mgCommitteeDetails.aspx?ID=143\">Planning and Transportation Committee<\/a> has granted resolution planning permission for the construction of The Tulip<\/h2>\n<p>The committee\u2019s decision follows the recommendation of the planning officer\u2019s report which noted the significant public socio-economic and cultural benefits The Tulip project would have on London, and the UK as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the planning application process, The Tulip Project submitted an Economic Impact Assessment by <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/uk\/en.html\">Deloitte<\/a>, which estimated that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/tower-tulip-london\/52543\/\">The Tulip<\/a> would offer economic benefits to London of nearly \u00a31bn by 2045 and 600 additional permanent full-time jobs during 20 years of operations.<\/p>\n<p>According to an independent representative poll of Londoners, conducted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comresglobal.com\/\">ComRes<\/a>, two thirds of London adults (65%) think that The Tulip would be an attractive addition to the London skyline, while 69% believe that the proposed development would have a positive impact on \u2018the city\u2019s attractiveness as a visitor and cultural destination\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>During the planning application process, The Tulip Project team have engaged with a significant number of local stakeholders including heritage bodies, schools, businesses and residents in the City and neighbouring boroughs.
