A major development of Bristol\u2019s busiest traffic intersections by Temple Meads Station<\/a> is nearing completion<\/h2>\n

In the major development, the simplified junctions will be easier to manage in heavy traffic helping to reduce delays and give road users more predictable journey times.<\/p>\n

People walking and cycling will still be directed around the outside of the works boundary while the new segregated cycle paths and footways are built. The new paths will open this summer providing a direct route<\/a> to Temple Meads station and a single-stage crossing from the Brunel Mile.<\/p>\n

The final scheme will see four-times the amount of cycle space and almost double the space given to pedestrians compared with the previous layout.<\/p>\n

Councillor Kye Dudd, cabinet member for Transport, said: \u201cThese much-needed works will transform Temple Gate into a fitting gateway to the city, improve the journeys of the millions of people who travel through the area every year and unlock plots of previously under-used land for development.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a key part of our ongoing work to regenerate the Temple Quarter<\/a> district in order to create new jobs and bring about sustainable economic growth for the benefit of the whole city.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recognise the disruption the works have caused and are grateful to everyone for their patience while we complete the final phase of the scheme<\/a>. We still have some way to go but this is an important milestone in the project and it\u2019s great to know that the end is in sight.\u201d<\/p>\n
