{"id":55844,"date":"2019-04-23T12:32:21","date_gmt":"2019-04-23T11:32:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=55844"},"modified":"2019-04-23T12:32:21","modified_gmt":"2019-04-23T11:32:21","slug":"modular-hotel-new-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/modular-hotel-new-york\/55844\/","title":{"rendered":"World\u2019s tallest modular hotel to be constructed in New York"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The world\u2019s tallest modular hotel is on track to be constructed in New York City in the autumn, which will see the creation of a 360-foot tower erected over 90 days<\/h2>\n<p>The modular hotel will carry the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriott.com\/marriott\/aboutmarriott.mi\">Marriott International<\/a>\u00a0brand, with prefabricated and pre-furnished guestrooms.<\/p>\n<p>To be topped with a modular roof and modular rooftop bar, the modular hotel is expected to open in late 2020 as the AC Hotel New York NoMad.<\/p>\n<p>Eric Jacobs, chief development officer of Marriott International, said: \u201cIn North America, the construction process hasn\u2019t changed significantly in 150 years and it\u2019s ripe for innovation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe world\u2019s tallest modular hotel in one of the world\u2019s greatest destinations will act as a game-changing symbol to ignite even greater interest in modular among the real estate and lending industries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 168-room, 26-storey\u00a0AC Hotel New York NoMad\u00a0is scheduled to rise at 842 Sixth Avenue with prefabricated guestrooms arriving at the hotel site fully constructed. Each module will contain a fully outfitted guest room \u2013 with beds, sheets, pillows, flooring and even toiletries.<\/p>\n<p>The hotel\u2019s roof and rooftop bar are expected to be produced using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/category\/modular-construction-news\/\">modular construction<\/a>, and its more customised public areas such as the restaurant and lobby are expected to be constructed using traditional methods.<\/p>\n<p>Danny\u00a0Forster of Danny\u00a0Forster &amp; Architecture said: \u201cThis is the moment where modular construction takes centre stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis hotel takes every advantage of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/modular-construction-news\/offsite-tackle-issues-construction\/51045\/\">offsite manufacturing<\/a>, as you might expect.\u00a0But it does so in a way that defies expectation.\u00a0We wanted to demonstrate that modular building can do more than just harness the efficiencies of the factory. It can produce a graceful and iconic tower.
