{"id":57135,"date":"2019-05-16T13:01:29","date_gmt":"2019-05-16T12:01:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=57135"},"modified":"2019-05-16T13:01:29","modified_gmt":"2019-05-16T12:01:29","slug":"kier-paisley-town-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/kier-paisley-town-hall\/57135\/","title":{"rendered":"Kier wins pre-construction phase of Paisley Town Hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kier.co.uk\/where\/scotland\/\">Kier<\/a> has announced a significant heritage contract win after being appointed by hub West Scotland to carry out\u00a0the pre-construction phase of the \u00a322m\u00a0transformation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.renfrewshireleisure.com\/arts\">Paisley Town Hall<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Kier will be transforming the Paisley Town Hall building into a modern facility which will help safeguard the historic venue\u2019s future.<\/p>\n<p>The redevelopment work will allow the Town Hall to host a broader range of events as well as improving the performance facilities and visitor experience, including new catering and conference facilities, better physical access, and improved mechanical and electrical systems.<\/p>\n<p>Kier Regional Building has a wealth of expertise in working with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/wates-va-museum\/56970\/\">landmark buildings<\/a>. The construction company is currently working on the refurbishment of the Burrell Museum and has just successfully completed the technically complex redevelopment of Scotland\u2019s oldest concert venue, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenperformingarts.com\/music-hall\/\">Aberdeen Music Hall<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Brian McQuade, managing director of Kier Regional Building Scotland, said: \u201cWe are pleased to work with Renfrewshire Council, operators Renfrewshire Leisure and hub West Scotland as we help to protect and transform Paisley Town Hall into a modern, vibrant venue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActivity will see a wealth of improvements for performers and visitors alike. Work is due to start on-site in early 2020 and be completed by the end of 2021. As well as transforming Paisley Town Hall into a top-class destination, we will be creating local jobs for local people together with valuable learning and training opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Lisa-Marie Hughes, chair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.renfrewshireleisure.com\/\">Renfrewshire Leisure<\/a>, added: \u201cThe \u00a322m internal transformation of Paisley Town Hall is one of the key projects within a wider investment by Renfrewshire Council to use Paisley\u2019s internationally-significant cultural and heritage story to drive new footfall to the town.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will turn this 19<sup>th<\/sup>-century architectural gem into a 21<sup>st<\/sup>-century facility and a landmark entertainment venue for the West of Scotland capable of hosting bigger and better events &#8211; while keeping a much-loved building at the heart of life in the town for future generations, as it has been for the past 140 years.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We look forward to working with Kier on the main construction work starting next year \u2013 and all involved will make sure residents, businesses and neighbours are kept closely informed of work while it happens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Iain Marley, chief executive of hub West Scotland, said: We are thrilled to partner with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.renfrewshire.gov.uk\/\">Renfrewshire Council<\/a> and Renfrewshire Leisure and lead the restoration of this magnificent building.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The project will create a top-class destination and represent a landmark in the rejuvenation of Paisley.
