The code is administered by the CICM on behalf of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-business-energy-and-industrial-strategy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy<\/a> (BEIS). Signatories pledge to uphold its best practice for payment standards to end the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/tackle-poor-payment-practices\/49907\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">culture of late payment<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>The full list of companies suspended or removed from the Prompt Payment Code includes:<\/h3>\n<h4>17 suspended with action plan received (or committed):<\/h4>\n<p>Severfield (Design &amp; Build) Ltd<\/p>\n<p>Stantec UK Limited<\/p>\n<p>Screwfix<\/p>\n<p>Prudential<\/p>\n<p>British American Tobacco (Holdings) Limited<\/p>\n<p>Galliford Try PLC<\/p>\n<p>Alun Griffiths<\/p>\n<p>Ferrovial Agroman (UK) Limited<\/p>\n<p>BAE Systems Global Combat Systems Limited<\/p>\n<p>BAE Systems Applied Intelligence Limited<\/p>\n<p>BAE Systems (Oman) Limited<\/p>\n<p>Centrica<\/p>\n<p>Maintenance Management Limited<\/p>\n<p>Fujitsu Services Limited<\/p>\n<p>De La Rue Holdings plc<\/p>\n<p>Domino UK Ltd<\/p>\n<p>BT plc<\/p>\n<h4>One suspended with no action plan yet received:<\/h4>\n<p>AB World Foods<\/p>\n<p>Businesses suspended from the Prompt Payment Code are invited to produce an action plan that leads to a substantial improvement in payment performance and are reinstated to the Code as soon as they demonstrate compliance.<\/p>\n<p>CICM\u2019s chief executive Philip King, said: \u201cWe will continue to challenge signatories to the Code if the obligatory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/construction-suspended-prompt-payment\/56187\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Payment Practice Reporting<\/a> data suggests that their practices are not compliant. We are encouraged that of the 18 who have been suspended or removed today, all but one has already submitted action plans to achieve future compliance, and we are working closely with those businesses to support a better payment culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Small Business Commissioner Paul Uppal, commented: &#8220;Large companies who are not currently meeting the Code Standards need to note their unethical payment practices will not be tolerated. The suspension of those who are failing to meet their obligations demonstrates Government is committed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/payment-practices\/58765\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ensure small businesses are treated fairly<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Cabinet Office Minister for Implementation, Oliver Dowden added: &#8220;Paying invoices promptly is vital, particular for smaller businesses, who are the backbone of the UK economy. So I hope that the companies who have been suspended from the code will now get their act together and work hard to improve their performance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From September 1 2019, any supplier who bids for a government contract above \u00a35m per annum will be expected to answer questions about their payment practices and performance.
