Morgan Sindall Construction<\/a> has been appointed to deliver two schemes for Hackney Council worth a combined total of \u00a397.5m, as part of the Hackney regeneration scheme<\/h2>\n

The company will deliver the new state-of-the-art Britannia Leisure Centre and public realm improvements under a \u00a353.8m contract and a new secondary school and sixth form, the City of London Academy Shoreditch Park, under a \u00a343.7m contract as part of the Hackney regeneration scheme.<\/p>\n

Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure has been selected on the project via the Southern Construction Framework<\/a>, which is available as a vehicle for public bodies in the South of England to procure major building works.<\/p>\n

The projects form the first phase of the Hackney regeneration scheme to replace an outdated leisure centre with the facilities and hundreds of new homes \u2013 including those for genuinely affordable social rent and shared ownership.<\/p>\n

The new leisure centre\u2019s modern facilities will better meet the expectations and ambitions of existing residents, and respond to new demand from the growing population in the borough. The centre will also improve access for people with disabilities and comply with design guidance from Sport England and other governing bodies where relevant.<\/p>\n

The centre is due to complete in spring 2021 and will be delivered by a project team including FaulknerBrown Architects<\/a> and BuroHappold<\/a> engineers. Project management for Hackney Council will be delivered by Hadron Consulting<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The new City of London Academy Shoreditch Park will provide a much-needed secondary school and sixth form with 1,140 new school places to help to meet demand in Hackney.<\/p>\n

The project team delivering the school includes Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios<\/a> architects, Buro Happold engineers, with external project management for Hackney Council being delivered by PCSG<\/a>. Works on the school are due to complete in early summer 2021.<\/p>\n

As part of the Hackney regeneration scheme, the area will also get a bio-diversity boost; more trees will be planted, bird boxes will be introduced, and wildlife-friendly planting will provide a greater variety of habitats and food sources for bees and other insects.<\/p>\n
