{"id":63092,"date":"2019-09-13T09:10:21","date_gmt":"2019-09-13T08:10:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=63092"},"modified":"2019-09-13T09:10:21","modified_gmt":"2019-09-13T08:10:21","slug":"payment-and-mental-health-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/payment-and-mental-health-survey\/63092\/","title":{"rendered":"New payment and mental health survey launches for UK construction"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>A major new payment and mental health survey has been launched by 27 bodies in the UK construction industry, to understand how poor payment practices are impacting mental health<\/h2>\n<p>The payment and mental health survey is being run by engineering services trade bodies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eca.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ECA<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.besa.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BESA<\/a>, in association with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepromptpaymentdirectory.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prompt Payment Directory<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>BESA head of legal and commercial, Debbie Petford, commented: \u201cPoor mental health is bad for wellbeing and bad for business. The survey is an important next step in the campaign to reform retentions and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/suspended-prompt-payment-code\/60173\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">late payment culture<\/a> in the industry. It will help us gain an understanding of the human costs of these practices, that are often overlooked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ECA director of legal and business, Rob Driscoll, added: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/tag\/mental-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mental health<\/a> is an increasingly important\u00a0\u2013 and costly\u00a0\u2013 issue in both construction and wider society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis major initiative from ECA and BESA aims to connect the dots between poor payment practices and the impact on the mental health of business owners and senior managers, along with the wider impacts on other employees and their families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The payment and mental health survey, which is aimed mainly at business owners, CEOs and managers, contains just 12 questions and should take just minutes to complete. It runs from 12 September &#8211; 10 October, and answers are completely confidential.<\/p>\n<p>The survey can be completed here\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.surveymonkey.co.uk\/r\/PLV22QP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.surveymonkey.co.uk\/r\/PLV22QP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Survey supporters cover a range of construction activity, including electrical, plumbing, building, scaffolding, roofing, civil engineering, fire safety, painting and decorating, and interiors.
