{"id":64067,"date":"2019-10-02T10:56:14","date_gmt":"2019-10-02T09:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=64067"},"modified":"2019-10-02T10:56:14","modified_gmt":"2019-10-02T09:56:14","slug":"offsite-housing-bristol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/offsite-housing-bristol\/64067\/","title":{"rendered":"BoKlok announces plans for 200 offsite homes in Bristol"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boklok.com\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BoKlok UK Ltd<\/a>, the offsite housing provider jointly owned by Skanska and IKEA, has announced plans to develop 200 homes in south Bristol with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bristol.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bristol City Council<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Bristol City Council, who owns the Airport Road site, has committed to pursuing the development of this partnership with BoKlok as part of the five-year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/modular-construction-news\/modular-projects-bristol\/53046\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bristol Housing Festival<\/a> which is trialling innovative offsite housing solutions across the city.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed offsite housing development will be the first BoKlok community in Bristol. Around 140 of the homes will be for market sale under the BoKlok brand. The remaining homes will be for social rent and shared ownership.<\/p>\n<p>Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol, said: \u201cAt the festival\u2019s launch a year ago, we said we would invite\u00a0ideas from all over the\u00a0world\u00a0and\u00a0be imaginative in solving the city\u2019s housing emergency. This is exactly what BoKlok will bring with these exciting plans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also exploring how Bristol City Council might acquire a number of these new homes as part of our commitment to providing more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/social-housing-levels-failing\/63898\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social housing<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BoKlok has more than 20 years\u2019 experience in the offsite housing sector and has developed some 12,000 homes in the Nordics.<\/p>\n<p>Jonas Spangenberg, CEO of BoKlok, commented: \u201cWhen we entered the UK market we pinpointed Bristol as a key city, and now we are excited to move ahead with the plans for Airport Road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are here to stay for the long-term, making it possible for more people with average incomes to realise their dream of owning their home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gregor Craig, president and CEO, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skanska.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Skanska UK<\/a>, said: \u201cSkanska\u2019s purpose is to build for a better society and BoKlok will broaden our offer in the UK with sustainable, quality homes at a low cost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSkanska has been actively involved in Bristol for many years, building or re-furbishing over 50 schools in the area.
