{"id":64456,"date":"2019-10-09T09:27:30","date_gmt":"2019-10-09T08:27:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=64456"},"modified":"2019-10-09T09:27:32","modified_gmt":"2019-10-09T08:27:32","slug":"cruise-terminal-hotel-liverpool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/cruise-terminal-hotel-liverpool\/64456\/","title":{"rendered":"Cruise Terminal Hotel gets the green light at Liverpool Waters"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wates.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wates Construction<\/a> has been given the go-ahead to build the new Cruise Terminal Hotel in Liverpool, marking a step forward for the city\u2019s waterfront regeneration scheme<\/h2>\n<p>The new 200-bed Cruise Terminal Hotel \u2013 part of Peel L&amp;P\u2019s waterfront regeneration scheme \u2013 was granted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/tag\/planning-applications\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">planning permission<\/a> at Liverpool City Council\u2019s planning committee Meeting on 8 October following submission for detailed planning in April this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Cruise Terminal Hotel will support Liverpool\u2019s new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/ramboll-liverpool-cruise-liner-terminal-river-mersey\/48079\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cruise Liner Terminal<\/a> at Princes Dock, which once built, will accommodate the world\u2019s largest cruise ships.<\/p>\n<p>Wates\u2019 planning consultant for the scheme was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jll.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jones Lang LaSalle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Cruise Terminal Hotel facilities include a lobby bar, cafe, restaurant, business suite and back of house facilities as well as visitor and coach parking, and a taxi pick-up and drop-off point.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/wates-liverpool-hotel\/47456\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Construction of the new hotel<\/a> is expected to commence early 2020 and will see Wates commit to providing extensive training and employment opportunities for local people as well as enhancing the city\u2019s economy through the appointment of local supply chain partners.<\/p>\n<p>Dave Saville, business unit director for Wates Construction North West, said: \u201cWe are very pleased to have received planning permission for the new Liverpool Cruise Terminal Hotel, a development that will play a significant role in the growth of the city\u2019s already booming tourism industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMonths of work have gone into the planning for the project in terms of its delivery and the added value it will create for local people and we look forward to bringing these plans to fruition in the coming months and years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson, commented: \u201cLiverpool should be the premier cruise destination on the west coast of the UK and our new terminal will underpin that ambition and make it a reality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis hotel is critical to the plan to create a world-class experience for the cruise companies and their passengers. The city is working with some of the very best in the construction industry to deliver the facilities and I\u2019m delighted they\u2019ve got the green light to start this hugely important scheme.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peel L&amp;P\u2019s \u00a35bn Liverpool Waters scheme is one of the largest regeneration projects in Europe, which will create five distinct neighbourhoods and breathe life back into the city\u2019s northern docks.<\/p>\n<p>Darran Lawless, development director for Liverpool Waters, part of <a href=\"https:\/\/peellandp.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peel L&amp;P<\/a>, said: \u201cThis is a fantastic step forward for Liverpool\u2019s regeneration.
