More than 1,800 additional social housing homes are planned across the Falkirk Council<\/a> area<\/h2>\n

The new social housing homes will be developed over the next five years following a bid put forward to Scottish Government<\/a> by Falkirk Council.<\/p>\n

The \u00a3102m bid would see a mix of new homes built by Falkirk Council and other social landlords for their tenants, as well as \u2018buying back\u2019 former social housing properties.<\/p>\n

Included in the bid are 613 new build homes<\/a> and 450 \u2018buybacks\u2019 for Falkirk Council, with the remainder for other social landlords including Link, Paragon, Loretto, Weslo and other providers.<\/p>\n

Funding for the homes will be predominantly from the Council\u2019s Housing Investment Programme and other social landlords own financing, with approximately one-third from Scottish Government.<\/p>\n

Councillor Gordon Hughes, spokesperson for Housing said: \u201cOur plan will see hundreds of new homes built across many different locations in the area. More than 1000 will be built for Falkirk Council tenants and more than 700 for other registered social landlords.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re optimistic that we will receive the full funding from Scottish Government and help improve our local communities with these properties.\u201d<\/p>\n

Social housing stats<\/h3>\n

 According to figures from Bunk<\/a>, the total number of homes reaching the social rental sector has barely grown by just 0.07% since 2013. What\u2019s more, the number of homes being rented in the social sector via local authorities has actually dropped by -5.29% since 2013 as councils offloaded the responsibility to private enterprises.<\/p>\n
