BSRIA has successfully extended the scope of its UKAS accreditation to include the testing of Individual Zone Controllers (IZC) in accordance with the eu.bac Certification Scheme

The eu.bac (European building automation controls association) Certification Scheme includes testing based upon BS EN 15500-1. BSRIA is one of three authorised test laboratories to carry out this type of testing and the only one in the UK.

Home Controls and Building Automation products and systems have a significant influence on the overall energy efficiency of buildings. Proper control of the indoor environment is also essential to ensure the comfort and productivity of occupants.

The eu.bac Certification Mark has been devised to inform and guide consumers on how to make an informed purchasing decision for the selection of energy efficient products based on a strong accredited third-party Certification System.

The registered eu.bac Certification Mark is a symbol that expresses energy efficiency and quality. It is also the European Quality Label for products and systems in the area Building Automation and Controls.

Mark Roper, principal test engineer at BSRIA Test, said: “Accurate control of heating and cooling systems in buildings is essential for energy efficiency and providing the correct indoor environment.

“Testing of zone controllers validates one essential link in the chain of building controls.

“BSRIA is proud to have achieved UKAS accreditation for testing Independent Zone Controllers. We are the only test laboratory to be accredited in accordance with these standards in the UK and the accreditation gives our clients further confidence in our methodology and the results.”
