{"id":66203,"date":"2019-10-29T09:16:07","date_gmt":"2019-10-29T09:16:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=66203"},"modified":"2025-06-23T11:48:53","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T10:48:53","slug":"building-safety-regulator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/building-safety-regulator\/66203\/","title":{"rendered":"Hackitt named government adviser on new Building Safety Regulator"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2>Dame Judith Hackitt will provide independent advice to the government on how best to establish the powerful new Building Safety Regulator<\/h2>\n<p>A respected expert in building safety, Dame Judith Hackitt will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/government-hackitt-recommendations\/50337\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">provide independent advice<\/a> to the government on how best to establish the powerful new Building Safety Regulator, housing secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/people\/robert-jenrick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robert Jenrick<\/a> announced yesterday (28 October 2019).<\/p>\n<p>The appointment follows Dame Judith\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/independent-review-of-building-regulations-and-fire-safety-hackitt-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety<\/a>, in which the government committed to take forward all of her recommendations and go further, by forming a new national Regulator.<\/p>\n<p>The Regulator will oversee the design and management of buildings, with a strong focus on ensuring the new regime for higher-risk buildings is enforced effectively and robustly.
