{"id":66355,"date":"2019-10-30T09:42:08","date_gmt":"2019-10-30T09:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=66355"},"modified":"2019-10-30T09:42:08","modified_gmt":"2019-10-30T09:42:08","slug":"planning-application-in-leicester","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/planning-application-in-leicester\/66355\/","title":{"rendered":"Planning application submitted for new neighbourhood in Leicester"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkerstrategic.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Parker Strategic Land<\/a> has submitted an outline planning application for a new 1,200-home neighbourhood on the eastern edge of Leicester<\/h2>\n<p>This application by Parker\u2019s supports early delivery of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harborough.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Harborough District Council<\/a> local plan which was adopted in April 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Leicestershire business worked collaboratively with the Planning Policy team at Harborough District Council as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leicester.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leicester City Council<\/a> and Scraptoft Golf Club to secure an allocation for the site in the Harborough District Local Plan.<\/p>\n<p>The site at Scraptoft North, is the second-largest site in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/the-landmark-derby\/60519\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Local Plan<\/a> and will provide up to 1,200 of the 12,800 homes needed in the District by 2031. Currently, most of the land is used by Scraptoft Golf Club, who will move to a brand new site, just a few miles away.<\/p>\n<h3>The outline application includes:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A new local centre with retail (A1, A3, A4 &amp; A5);<\/li>\n<li>Healthcare (D1) and community (D2) uses; care accommodation (C2);<\/li>\n<li>Two-form entry primary school;<\/li>\n<li>A children\u2019s day nursery (D1);<\/li>\n<li>Multifunctional green infrastructure network;<\/li>\n<li>Provision of open space including sport and recreational facilities, parks, play areas and other open space; landscaping; and formation of surface water storage ponds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The scheme will improve the natural environment and ecology along a local waterway, Scraptoft Brook, which currently runs through a concrete culvert. The scheme will also provide a green buffer for existing residents and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/accelar-floodframe\/65664\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">improve flood resilience<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Adrian Lott, managing director of Parker Strategic Land, said: \u201cScraptoft represents a great opportunity for Harborough District to deliver much-needed new homes, with infrastructure and community assets. For Parker\u2019s as a business, we are already working across the county and beyond to assist local council\u2019s in delivering their housing targets.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sizeable schemes like Scraptoft North give us greater scope to deliver quality developments, in partnership with local stakeholders, and to deliver on community aspirations.<\/p>\n<p>He added: We are pleased to be bringing the Scraptoft proposals forward, in partnership with the landowners, local councils and residents to create the right plan for the local community.
