{"id":66614,"date":"2019-11-01T14:45:07","date_gmt":"2019-11-01T14:45:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=66614"},"modified":"2022-09-29T10:38:44","modified_gmt":"2022-09-29T09:38:44","slug":"uk-bim-framework-documents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction-news\/bim-news\/uk-bim-framework-documents\/66614\/","title":{"rendered":"UK BIM Framework publishes two new documents"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The UK BIM Framework\u00a0has released\u00a0two new documents to support\u00a0practitioners\u00a0in embedding\u00a0and implementing\u00a0Building Information Modelling (BIM)<\/h2>\n<p>The UK BIM framework has published the \u2018Guidance Part 2: Processes for Project Delivery (second edition)\u2019 and \u2018Government Soft Landings\u2019, revised guidance for the public sector on applying BS8536 parts 1 &amp; 2.<\/p>\n<p>The UK BIM Framework is\u00a0the overarching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/uk-bim-framework\/65207\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">approach to implementing BIM<\/a> in the UK developed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukbimalliance.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UK BIM Alliance<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsigroup.com\/en-GB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BSI<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdbb.cam.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CDBB<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These documents serve to support the UK BIM Framework\u2019s mission to assist industry understanding of BIM standards and their implementation.\u00a0BSI, CDBB and the UK BIM Alliance are developing and championing one single set of guidance.<\/p>\n<p>The second edition of Guidance Part 2: Processes for Project Delivery provides an update including a new section on the common data environment. It also provides additional insight on the activities associated with ISO 19650-2 clause 5, looking at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assessment and need;<\/li>\n<li>Invitation to tender;<\/li>\n<li>Tender response;<\/li>\n<li>Appointment and Project close-out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The remaining clause 5 activities will be addressed in the January 2020 third edition alongside insight associated with information requirements and other themes within the ISO 19650 series.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the updated Guidance Part 2, the UK BIM Framework is also releasing revised guidance for the public sector on applying BS8536 parts 1 &amp; 2 \u2013 Government Soft Landings.<\/p>\n<p>Co-editor of the revised Guidance Part 2, Sarah Davidson from the UK BIM Alliance, said: \u201cIt has always been the intention that the Guidance documents would evolve and continue to do so.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first edition of Part 2: Process Guidance was intended to help industry navigate through the detail of the processes specified in the standard.
