{"id":67767,"date":"2019-11-20T07:55:42","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T07:55:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=67767"},"modified":"2019-11-20T07:55:42","modified_gmt":"2019-11-20T07:55:42","slug":"the-old-rectory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/the-old-rectory\/67767\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a35m restoration works to start on The Old Rectory"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Restoration of the Grade II Listed building, the Old Rectory, is set to begin, as the \u00a35m project sees the historic property saved from dilapidation<\/h2>\n<p>Midlands contractor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gftomlinson.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">G F Tomlinson<\/a> is heading up the \u2018Rectory Gardens\u2019 project, which will restore the Old Rectory back to its former glory.<\/p>\n<p>The Georgian style building will be transformed into four separate homes titled The Gatehouse, The Lodge, The Cottage and The Rectory, each with their own entrance and garden.<\/p>\n<p>Within the grounds of The Old Rectory site, there will be three new executive homes named Beech House, Cedar House and Oak House.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/victorian-edwardian-buildings-at-risk\/48601\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Grade II Listed building<\/a> dates back to mid-1700s and has a host of Georgian features, including an original square stairwell complete with wooden cantilever stairs, south-facing elevated gardens and large rooms.<\/p>\n<p>The Old Rectory \u2013 located in Clifton Village \u2013 sits alongside a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/restoring-historic-buildings\/61212\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">historic buildings<\/a> close by.<\/p>\n<p>Group property manager at G F Tomlinson, Siman Preston, said: \u201cWe are excited to begin works at The Old Rectory and bring a new lease of life to the iconic Georgian building in the heart of Clifton Village. We believe the luxury housing within Rectory Gardens will complement the historic surroundings, as well as welcome new residents to the sought-after area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the development team at G F Tomlinson are looking forward to seeing the development progress and provide high-quality homes befitting the surrounding area. The properties will be constructed with our usual high level of care and attention to detail, and we will be using the finest materials and latest specifications which will deliver a new housing scheme we can all be proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Director of <a href=\"http:\/\/cbp-arch.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CBP Architects<\/a>, Simon Birch, commented: \u201cWe are delighted to be working with G F Tomlinson to deliver this exciting project which will restore and renovate the Grade II listed former Rectory and adjoining buildings into high-quality residential homes, with the benefit of a further three top quality residential properties to the rear of the grounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCBP have worked closely with Thomas Street, Conservation Officer for Nottingham City Planning, to ensure that the heritage assets which have survived years of dilapidation, are respected and restored as part of the finished design.
