Clugston Construction<\/a> has won a \u00a35.9m contract to refurbish Wellington House in Leeds, the headquarters of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority<\/a> (WYCA)<\/h2>\n

The Wellington House scheme, which is being provided through the YORbuild2 Framework<\/a>, includes the refurbishment of the five-storey office block, located opposite Leeds Central train station.<\/p>\n

Wellington House was originally built in the early 1900s to provide warehousing and storage before fire damage saw it re-built in the late 1980s.<\/p>\n

The refurbishment will see the creation of flexible offices and conference rooms for West Yorkshire Combined Authority. It will include the reconfiguration of the entrance lobby, internal layout, and provision of new services and finishes throughout.<\/p>\n

Externally the structure will be re-roofed and have photovoltaic panels installed to improve the buildings carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

WYCA oversees large transport and infrastructure projects in the Leeds City Region, which includes Barnsley, Bradford, Calderdale, Craven, Harrogate, Kirklees, Leeds, Selby, Wakefield and York.<\/p>\n

\u201cWellington House has been around since the early 1900s and remains an essential part of the city\u2019s infrastructure, we are excited to be working with West Yorkshire Combined Authority to deliver this newly refurbishment building and help bring the facility firmly into the modern era.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Wellington House scheme is expected to be handed over in May 2021.<\/p>\n

YORbuild2 Framework<\/h3>\n

Esh Build\u2019s<\/a> \u00a31.2m refurbishment project of a pupil referral unit at Springfield School in Wakefield<\/a>\u00a0and BAM Construction\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0project to deliver the next stage of the Lincoln Medical School<\/a> for the\u00a0University of Lincoln are both projects under the YORbuild2 Framework.<\/p>\n

YORbuild2 helps local authorities and other public and third sector organisations procure construction projects efficiently and collaboratively.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s available to organisations across the Yorkshire and Humber region, the Sheffield LEP area, northeast England and Lincolnshire, with procurement following a fully EU-compliant process.<\/p>\n

YORbuild2 is due to expire at the end of February 2022.<\/p>\n
