Karen Alford, flood and coastal risk manager at The Environment Agency<\/a>, has joined the BIM4Water Steering Group as a \u201cnominated member\u201d<\/h2>\n

The position is in recognition of Karen Alford\u2019s work in the adoption of digital delivery in the UK water industry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jamie Mills, BIM4Water chair and systems engineer at Xylem Water Solutions UK<\/a>, said: \u201cI\u2019m delighted that Karen is joining the steering group as our Nominated Member.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer experience and guidance will be invaluable to the water industry, especially now, as we move into AMP 7 and make significant strides in our digital transformation journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

On her new role, Karen Alford, said: “I am honoured to be joining the BIM4Water steering group.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeven years of practical experience implementing BIM<\/a> across the whole asset life has given me insight into the challenges and opportunities it can bring to the water sector.\u201d<\/p>\n

Karen Alford will join the BIM4Water Steering Group with immediate effect.<\/p>\n

What is BIM4Water?<\/h3>\n

BIM4Water is a cross-industry group open to all organisations involved in the management and delivery of water and wastewater assets. The group’s make up is reflective of the UK Water industry, comprising clients, contractors, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and other bodies.<\/p>\n

It was established in 2013 as part of the UK government\u00a0BIM Task Group\u00a0programme to encourage BIM across the water sector. The group has a mission \u201cto lead the digital transformation of the water sector through Better Information Management\u201d and provides a focus for setting standards and best practice.<\/p>\n

BIM4Water is governed by a Steering Group, with representatives from the owner-operators, consultants, contractors and suppliers.<\/p>\n

In line with the current roadmap, it currently has four working groups, which are:<\/h4>\n

  • The Standard Libraries Group<\/li>\n
  • The Benefits & Case Studies Group<\/li>\n
  • The 4D Group.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
