Unite officials met with construction contractors <a href=\"https:\/\/new.siemens.com\/uk\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Siemens<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isastur.com\/en\/babcock\/company\/view\/5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Babcock Montajes<\/a> to discuss these concerns.<\/p>\n<p>The news caused demonstrations by local workers at the site due to genuine concerns that local workers would not be given the opportunity to work on the project,<\/p>\n<p>Following the meeting with Siemens and Babcock Montajes, Unite said it had received assurances that promises to employ local construction workers at the site will be kept.<\/p>\n<p>Siemens is constructing the \u00a3350m Keadby 2 power station on behalf of Scottish energy firm <a href=\"https:\/\/sse.co.uk\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SSE<\/a>, with Spanish company Babcock Montajes, brought on-board to construct the facility\u2019s boilers.<\/p>\n<p>Unite regional officer John McIntyre, said:\u00a0\u201cUnite has received assurances that the promises to use local labour on the Keadby 2 project will be kept.
