Vinci Construction UK<\/a> is to begin site preparations on the \u00a340m leisure and residential development in Redhill, Surrey<\/h2>\n

Reigate & Banstead Borough Council<\/a>\u00a0chose Vinci Construction as its main contractor to deliver the residential development in Redhill.<\/p>\n

The scheme includes a cinema, shops and 150 flats.<\/p>\n

Demolition and preparatory works<\/h3>\n

Vinci will begin by fencing off the area behind the vacant properties<\/a> at 34-44 High Street to install site facilities. This will be followed by the stripping out of the buildings in preparation for demolition in the New Year.<\/p>\n

From 3 January 2020 the site hoarding will begin to go up and demolition vehicles will arrive. Demolition of the existing buildings and site preparations will take around three months to complete.<\/p>\n

To enable the development to take place, the council\u2019s Marketfield Road car park will be permanently closed from 2 January 2020.<\/p>\n

Starting this week, in preparation for the development, contractors will be drilling test boreholes in Marketfield Road car park to check the ground conditions. The work will mean that a few parking spaces will need to be cordoned off at a time and this work will be phased to minimise the impact on parking in the run-up to Christmas.<\/p>\n

Luci Mould, director of Place Services, said: \u201cThe start of works on site is a really significant milestone for this landmark project and the wider regeneration<\/a> of Redhill town centre.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce complete it will be of huge community benefit, providing a multi-screen cinema, improved shopping and leisure opportunities and much-needed new homes.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth the construction and completed development will also provide hundreds of job opportunities for local people and boost the local economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are starting the main works in the new year so as not to disrupt trade for local businesses during the busy the Christmas period. In addition, Redhill market will remain in operation every day from 19-24 December.\u201d<\/p>\n

Construction of the leisure and residential development in Redhill is expected to start in May and be complete in summer 2022.<\/p>\n
