Plans have been approved for a second pub and hotel at Ebbsfleet Garden City which is currently home to 5,000 residents<\/h2>\n

The Castle Hill<\/a> area of the Garden City will gain the new development by Shepherd Neame after Ebbsfleet Development Corporation\u2019s<\/a> planning committee approved the plans.<\/p>\n

The pub is described as a \u201c21st\u00a0Century family pub\u201d by the brewer and will be at the heart of the community, it will also be on a new Fastrack bus route.<\/p>\n

The pub and hotel will be named The Chalk Yard, recognising the area\u2019s mining history and the unique landscape it left behind. The hotel will include 17 individually designed rooms and a function room for community or private events as well as the creation of up to 25 full-time jobs.<\/p>\n

Ebbsfleet Development Corporation\u2019s chief planning officer, Mark Pullin, said: \u201cThis is a landmark building that will be at the very heart of Castle Hill in Ebbsfleet Garden City.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very pleased that so much consideration has been given to the look and appearance and that it is so strongly based on the area\u2019s history in what will be a high-quality building.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shepherd Neame\u2019s chief executive, Jonathan Neame, added: \u201cThis is an exciting project at the heart of a major development in North Kent at the strategic crossroads between London and the Garden of England.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis fits\u00a0perfectly with our programme of investment in our pub and hotel estate, providing a great drinking and dining experience and high-quality accommodation for our customers in unique and interesting locations.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first pub and hotel opened in 2017 in Ebbsfleet Garden City and the area now has more than 1,900 homes with almost 5,000 residents<\/a>.\u00a0It also has a primary school with another being built and a third in the pipeline, as well as plans for a major secondary school campus.<\/p>\n
