{"id":69556,"date":"2020-01-02T11:02:04","date_gmt":"2020-01-02T11:02:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=69556"},"modified":"2020-01-02T11:04:56","modified_gmt":"2020-01-02T11:04:56","slug":"man-convicted-architect-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/man-convicted-architect-2\/69556\/","title":{"rendered":"Man convicted of seven counts for misusing the title \u2018architect\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Sohail Chohan and his company Sterling Design and Management Ltd has been convicted of seven counts of the criminal offence of misusing the title \u2018architect\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Sohail Chohan was charged for misusing the title \u2018architect\u2019 on his LinkedIn profile and Companies House listing.<\/p>\n<p>Westminster Magistrates\u2019 Court heard how Chohan was carrying out business using the title \u2018architect\u2019 on drawings, their online presence and listings at Companies House despite not being registered as an architect. Chohan continued these offences despite numerous warnings from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arb.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ARB<\/a>, the UK regulator of architects.<\/p>\n<p>Taking into account the defendant\u2019s financial situation and his early guilty plea, the District Judge imposed penalties totalling \u00a31,700 in addition to the criminal conviction.<\/p>\n<p>In regulating misusing the title \u2018architect\u2019 ARB\u2019s objective is to limit the harm as swiftly and effectively as possible. Chohan and Sterling Design and Management Ltd will have 28 days to make the necessary changes.
