North Lanarkshire Council<\/a> (NLC) has extended Amey’s<\/a> highways maintenance and management contract for a further three years until June 2024<\/h2>\n

Amey has been managing the maintenance of roads, street lighting, traffic management and infrastructure along with winter service and the provision of emergency response service, since the ten-and-a-half-year contract began with NLC in December 2010.<\/p>\n

In 2018 Amey and the NLC undertook a \u2018Year 8 Service Review\u2019 to assess the performance of the contract to determine if all contractual obligations were delivered. The review looked at all operational, financial, governance and risk management<\/a> performance.<\/p>\n

Following these reviews, NLC extended the existing contract by three years, ensuring that Amey will continue to provide services until June 2024.<\/p>\n

The contract extension will see the teams undertake a variety of jobs comprising; emergency repairs, patching, resurfacing, kerbing repairs, reoccurring maintenance repairs, repair of road drainage systems, vehicle restraint system repairs and installations, street lighting (maintenance and refurbishment), traffic sign maintenance and installations, provision of winter service for roads, as well as maintaining footways and footpaths.<\/p>\n

Continuing to deliver maintenance support<\/h3>\n

Kenny Kerr, business director at Amey, said: “I\u2019m pleased that North Lanarkshire Council has extended our contract to enable us to continue to deliver highways maintenance support in the area.<\/p>\n

“With a team of over 150 people, which includes seven apprentices, we\u2019re delighted to be able to ensure that until 2024 we\u2019ll be keeping residents safe and mobile whilst travelling on our roads.”<\/p>\n

Robert Steenson, executive director of enterprise and communities at North Lanarkshire Council, said: “Our partnership with Amey has been critical to providing essential services for residents and businesses across North Lanarkshire and, following a comprehensive review, we have extended the contract.<\/p>\n

“Amey have been fully committed to ensuring we can provide opportunities for young people through apprenticeships and that is very welcome. We very much look forward to continuing to work with the team at Amey in the coming years.”<\/p>\n
