BAM Nuttall<\/a>, VINCI Construction UK<\/a>, and VolkerFitzpatrick<\/a> have been shortlisted to tender the infrastructure projects to support the construction of 10,000 homes at Enfield Council\u2019s<\/a> \u00a36bn Meridian Water development<\/h2>\n

The Meridian Water scheme will provide 10,000 homes and 6,000 jobs and to create 8.2 hectares of parkland in the Lea Valley over the next 25 years.<\/p>\n

The work will involve the construction of roads, bridges and flood mitigation measures, as well as electricity, gas, hot water, communications, water and sewage connections and hectares of new parkland.<\/p>\n

The main project will be the delivery of the main boulevard passing through the whole of the development, stretching from the new Meridian Water Station<\/a> to Lee Valley Regional<\/p>\n

Up to three contractors will be appointed to carry out the works, with contracts awarded for a four year period.<\/p>\n

The work is funded by Enfield Council\u2019s successful \u00a3156m Housing Infrastructure Bid<\/a> to the government.<\/p>\n

Meridian Water transformational plans<\/h3>\n

Enfield Council\u2019s lead councillor, Nesil Caliskan, said: \u201cSignificant progress continues to be made at Meridian Water as we move forward with our transformational plans for this part of the borough.<\/p>\n

\u201cMajor developments need significant infrastructure and we always knew that early delivery of the infrastructure was vital to delivering our ultimate vision of Meridian Water \u2013 a project that will primarily benefit local people and deliver lasting benefits for them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking for a world-class partner to help us deliver a world-class development and our shortlisted contractors leave me in no doubt that we have selected a strong field of potential partners, all of whom have a proven track record of delivering exceptional results.<\/p>\n

“Improved transport links and infrastructure opens up opportunities for local people by providing better access to jobs and opportunities that are further afield and improving their life chances.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opening of Meridian Water Station last year was a hugely important first step in this process and with further improvements on their way we will be creating a high-quality neighbourhood with great connections that people will be proud to call home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Makerspace hub at Meridian Water<\/h3>\n

Planning permission has also been granted for a major new makerspace hub at Meridian Water to provide affordable workspace for hundreds of workers.<\/p>\n

The decision to grant planning permission for the project means Building BloQs will move into the former vehicle testing building which will be converted to provide more than 30,000 sq ft of manufacturing workshop space with capacity for more than 1,000 people at a time.<\/p>\n
