Plans for Birmingham\u2019s first \u2018super slender\u2019 tower and the UK\u2019s first habitable \u2018super slender\u2019 structure have been given the green light<\/h2>\n

Designed by Glancy Nicholls Architects<\/a> for\u00a0Taylor Grange Developments<\/a>, the 37-storey super slender skyscraper at 211 Broad Street will be 116.5m tall and just 9.5m wide.<\/p>\n

The aparthotel will boast 264 self-contained rooms, along with a range of amenities, including a bar, restaurant, gym and residents lounge.<\/p>\n

Enhance Birmingham\u2019s skyline<\/h3>\n

Lisa Deering, director at Glancy Nicholls Architects, said: \u201cAdvances in engineering and construction technology have allowed us to design an iconic building that will enhance Birmingham\u2019s skyline<\/a> and bring a new type of skyscraper to the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great news that 211 Broad Street has been given the go-ahead and we\u2019re very much looking forward to seeing the building take shape. This is an exciting project to be part of and a key milestone for Birmingham\u2019s architecture.\u201d<\/p>\n

211 Broad Street was praised by Birmingham City Council<\/a> for its design, referencing its \u2018ambitious concept and elegant in its form\u2019.<\/p>\n

The building will be the latest in a series of skyscrapers to be delivered on Broad Street and will be located opposite The Bank, two residential towers that were also designed by Glancy Nicholls.<\/p>\n

Notable buildings in Birmingham<\/h3>\n

Glancy Nicholls Architects has been responsible for the design of many notable buildings in Birmingham including the University of Birmingham\u2019s Chamberlain Hall Student Residence and the refurbishment of The Municipal Bank on Broad Street.<\/p>\n

The team is currently working on The Regeneration of Perry Bar for the Birmingham City Council and has designed 100 Broad Street<\/a> which, having obtained planning approval, is set to be Birmingham\u2019s tallest building.<\/p>\n
