Kier<\/a> hosted a topping out ceremony at their \u00a398m transformation programme, Heatherwood Hospital, to celebrate the completion of the main structure<\/h2>\n

Appointed by Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust<\/a> in January 2019, Kier has been carrying out works as part of the hospital\u2019s \u00a398m transformation programme. The 11,500 sq m site, will provide first-class out-patient and diagnostic facilities for cardiology, radiology, lithotripsy, physiotherapy and orthodontics.<\/p>\n

Members of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust joined Kier, to celebrate this significant milestone. The building will have six operating theatres and 48 in-patient beds, plus 22-day case cubicles.<\/p>\n

Within ten years of its opening, the aim is for the hospital to provide services for approximately 168,000 people each year, doubling what the existing hospital currently provides.<\/p>\n

Previous projects<\/h3>\n

In the last six years, Kier has delivered over 70 schemes for NHS Trusts through the P21+ and P22 frameworks<\/a>, including the National Health Service Blood and Transplant Centre in Barnsley.<\/p>\n

Training opportunities within the built environment<\/h3>\n

Martin Reilly, operations director for Kier Regional Building Southern, states: \u201cToday marks an important milestone in the completion of the new building that is part of the transformation programme at Heatherwood Hospital.<\/p>\n

“Over the last 12 months, work has progressed well and we are delighted that we are one step closer to providing vital new facilities for the hospital and its patients.<\/p>\n

“We always look to leave a lasting legacy in areas in which we build. Working collaboratively with\u00a0Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, we have engaged with the local community throughout this project as well as providing training opportunities for those who are considering a career within the built environment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frimley Health’s chief executive, Neil Dardis said: \u201cOur board gave the green light just a year ago and it is remarkable how much progress has been made since then. Kier are doing a fantastic job.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is so exciting to reach this milestone and to have the completion of the new hospital insight. It will be among the best facilities of its kind in the NHS and we will finally have the facilities that our fantastic Heatherwood teams and the patients they care for deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n
