{"id":71906,"date":"2020-02-17T11:24:49","date_gmt":"2020-02-17T11:24:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=71906"},"modified":"2020-02-17T11:24:49","modified_gmt":"2020-02-17T11:24:49","slug":"csic-board-expands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/csic-board-expands\/71906\/","title":{"rendered":"CSIC board expands to drive cultural change across Scottish construction"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cs-ic.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Construction Scotland Innovation Centre<\/a> (CSIC) has appointed 11 new members to its governance board, reflecting the increasing appetite for collaboration across the construction industry<\/h2>\n<p>Six women were among the 11 new CSIC board additions, with a seventh, Margaret Watson, sector lead, construction, forestry and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/modular-construction-news\/engineered-timber-innovation\/71303\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">timber technologies<\/a> at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottish-enterprise.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scottish Enterprise<\/a>, joining as a stakeholder observer.<\/p>\n<p>The CSIC board provides industry-driven guidance and direction to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/how-the-construction-scotland-innovation-centre-is-helping-companies-adopt-bim\/41138\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Innovation Centre<\/a>. When looking to expand it made an effort to seek out new and diverse voices from across industry.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives chosen have a variety of skills, experience and specialisms \u2013 from Anne Johnstone, who has over 18 years\u2019 experience in environment, energy and corporate sustainability across the construction industry to Alexander Holt, who is passionate about the benefits of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/embrace-digital-transformation\/68243\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">digital transformation<\/a> within the sector and Lynne Sullivan OBE, Architect, Government advisor and low and zero-carbon building champion.<\/p>\n<h3>CSIC board to drive cultural change across Scottish construction<\/h3>\n<p>The CSIC board has chosen specialists from across the industry to help it achieve its mission to drive innovation and cultural change across the Scottish construction industry and to support the delivery of CSIC\u2019s industry-led phase two strategy over the next five years. The phase two strategy addresses four key areas: Culture Change, Digital Transformation, Accelerating Industrialisation and Building Sustainably, all of which integrate around the need to support the construction sectors transition to net-zero carbon emissions by 2045.<\/p>\n<h4>The new board members include:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Anne Johnstone, partner and head of environment, energy and sustainability at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollisglobal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hollis<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Emma Marriott, director of Emma Marriott Consulting<\/li>\n<li>Jo Green, chief officer, performance and innovation at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sepa.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SEPA<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Lynne Sullivan (OBE), founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lsastudio.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LSA Studio<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Madeline Smith, head of strategy, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsainnovationschool.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Innovation School at Glasgow School of Art<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Mandy Mair, performance team lead at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishwater.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scottish Water<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Alexander Holt, founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/civtech.atlassian.net\/wiki\/spaces\/C4\/overview?mode=global\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CivTech<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Andrew Mallice, managing director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cruden-ltd.co.uk\/hart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hart Builders<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Paul Dodd, head of infrastructure technology at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishfuturestrust.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scottish Futures Trust<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Stewart Dalgarno, director of product development at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stewartmilne.com\/PageProducer.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stewart Milne Group<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Stewart Brown, assistant director of property &amp; capital planning at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hfs.scot.nhs.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NHS Health Facilities Scotland<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The 11 new CSIC board members join chair John Forster, CSIC chief executive Stephen Good and industry experts Mark Farmer, Alison Watson, David Philp, Jeanette McIntyre, Sara Thiam and Steve Petrie, bringing the number serving on the board up to 19.<\/p>\n<p>John Forster, CSIC board chair, commented: \u201cAs a board we have a collective wealth of experience and are increasingly well equipped and motivated to deliver CSIC\u2019s aims for our industry.
