{"id":72024,"date":"2020-02-19T09:14:06","date_gmt":"2020-02-19T09:14:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=72024"},"modified":"2020-02-19T09:14:06","modified_gmt":"2020-02-19T09:14:06","slug":"housing-partnership-south-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/housing-partnership-south-england\/72024\/","title":{"rendered":"Housing partnership to build 1,400 homes across South England"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aster.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aster Group<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vistrygroup.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vistry Homes<\/a> have joined forces to deliver 1,359 new homes by 2024, t<\/span><span class=\"s1\">he housing partnership consists of five joint ventures across the south of England<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Vistry Group was formed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/bovis-homes-acquisition\/69574\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bovis Homes\u2019 acquisition<\/a> of Galliford Try\u2019s housebuilding arm Linden Homes and the partnerships division of Vistry Partnerships, announced in January 2020. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This housing partnership represents a \u00a3167m investment from the two organisations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">To date, developments run between Aster and Vistry Homes have built more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/900-new-homes-meridian-one\/69677\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">than 500 homes in the UK<\/a>. The most recent joint venture to get underway is a 130-unit development in Kilnwood Vale, Horsham, West Sussex.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">More than a quarter of the homes will be for affordable tenures \u2013 250 for affordable rent and 96 for shared ownership, with the rest for private sale.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Aster has a \u00a32bn investment plan to deliver more than 10,000 homes over the next seven years. It operates a mixed delivery model which sees it build housing via Section 106 agreements, joint ventures and its own land-led schemes alongside a growing focus on community-led projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"s1\">Pledge to inject \u00a355m<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The housing association recently appointed former housing ombudsman Mike Biles as non-executive chairman. It posted a turnover of \u00a3212m in the year ending 31 March 2019 and committed to one of its largest-ever packages of estate investment, pledging to inject \u00a355m into improvements to its existing portfolio during the current financial year.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"s1\">Collaborative housebuilding approach<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Amanda Williams, group development director at Aster Group, said: &#8220;We\u2019ve set ourselves ambitious delivery targets and this partnership will play a vital role in meeting these goals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;Joint ventures are an incredibly effective method of delivering homes and we actively look for potential partners \u2013 be they builders, other housing associations or local councils. The ability to pool resources and share risk makes them an ideal vehicle for getting large developments off the ground. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;I firmly believe that collaborative approaches to housebuilding like this are crucial if the sector is to deliver the homes the UK needs.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Stephen Teagle, chief executive at Vistry Partnerships, said: &#8220;Our joint venture partnership with Aster Group is making a real difference \u2013 enabling us to deliver more homes and more choice for customers.
