{"id":72211,"date":"2020-02-21T08:37:55","date_gmt":"2020-02-21T08:37:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=72211"},"modified":"2020-02-21T08:37:55","modified_gmt":"2020-02-21T08:37:55","slug":"energy-from-waste-facility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/energy-from-waste-facility\/72211\/","title":{"rendered":"Vital Energi secures energy from waste facility near Burton upon Trent"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitalenergi.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vital Energi<\/a> has secured a major contract to deliver a new energy from waste facility near Burton Upon Trent which will add 18MWe of green energy to the grid<\/h2>\n<p>The Drakelow Energy from Waste plant has been designed by the Vital Energi team and will be built, owned and operated by the Vital Energi Group.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to generating 18MWe of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/smart-energy-grid-greenscies\/71979\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">low-carbon electricity<\/a>, the Drakelow Energy from Waste facility will also make a valuable contribution to diverting waste from landfill with the capability of processing 169,000 tonnes of non-recyclable Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) each year.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley Malin, Vital Energi\u2019s project development director, said: \u201cThe UK faces many environmental challenges and this facility is an exciting opportunity to reduce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/resource-efficiency-construction\/41311\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">carbon emissions<\/a> and divert waste from landfill. We are extremely excited to be delivering and operating this facility, which will make a positive contribution to the UK\u2019s low-carbon infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have worked with a team of industry experts in the Energy from Waste (EfW) sector to bring this project to market and we would like to thank them for their contributions to deliver a major project that will contribute to the UK\u2019s low carbon infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Vital Energi has been supported by a range of specialist companies which includes:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.squirepattonboggs.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Squire Patton Boggs<\/a> \u2013 provided legal support for all aspects of the transaction from the outset to financial close.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.royalhaskoningdhv.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Royal Haskoning<\/a> \u2013 has been the technical advisor on the project, along with providing additional support on the key technology islands ensuring what is procured and designed aligns with proven market standards.
