{"id":72641,"date":"2020-03-02T08:13:24","date_gmt":"2020-03-02T08:13:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=72641"},"modified":"2020-03-02T08:13:24","modified_gmt":"2020-03-02T08:13:24","slug":"consortium-intelligent-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction-news\/construction-technology-news\/consortium-intelligent-infrastructure\/72641\/","title":{"rendered":"Consortium to deliver intelligent infrastructure across the UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>A new consortium led by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cognizant.com\/en-uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cognizant<\/a>, together with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amey.co.uk\/amey-consulting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amey Consulting<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arup<\/a>,<span class=\"s1\"> aims to reduce service affecting failures on railways as part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkrail.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Network Rail<\/a> programme to deliver asset management improvements <\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Intelligent Infrastructure programme will increase the availability of infrastructure across the rail network by using product and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/amey-data-science-contract\/72517\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">maintenance regime<\/a> design and asset data analysis to effectively predict failures, forecast the impact of potential failures and improve maintenance planning and intervention prior to disruptions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">The consortium will deliver work across three lots of Network Rail\u2019s Intelligent Infrastructure programme, running until the end of CP6 in 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The result will be improved on-time performance for trains nationwide, significant cost savings through better lifecycle of assets and a much safer railway for rail engineers who will be able to target critical work with improved data and information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The innovative consortium brings together Cognizant\u2019s system integration capability, Amey Consulting\u2019s proficiency in analytics and data architecture combined with its railway operations and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/asset-management-built-environment\/62094\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">asset management<\/a> experience, and Arup\u2019s engineering expertise and digital capability in infrastructure.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"s1\">Intelligent Infrastructure will modernise UK rail\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Speaking on the award Alex Gilbert, managing director, Amey Consulting, said: \u201cReducing failures on our railways is essential to keeping people and goods moving on time, supporting economic growth across the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;We are proud to support Cognizant on this ambitious consortium, harnessing data science and analytics capability to drive improvement across the rail network, reducing delays and disruptions to passengers and freight nationwide.
