Springfield Properties<\/a> has signed an agreement, as part of the Clyde Gateway project with West of Scotland Housing Association<\/a> (WSHA), for the development of 114 affordable homes and two commercial units in Dalmarnock<\/h2>\n

This development is part of the Clyde Gateway project \u2013 Scotland\u2019s largest regeneration programme \u2013 and will be jointly funded by Glasgow City Council<\/a> and private finance provided by WSHA Lenders.<\/p>\n

Under this agreement, the group will deliver 114 homes for WSHA, comprising one- to five-bedroom social rented and mid-market rent homes.<\/p>\n

The plans also include two commercial units and the provision of play areas. The homes are designed to be attractive to live in and highly energy efficient, which will reduce running costs for tenants, and solar photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof of the buildings.<\/p>\n

The 2.2-hectare development has planning consent for 237 homes, and the group is in negotiation for the provision of the second phase of 123 homes with another provider.<\/p>\n

It is located in the east end of Glasgow on a brownfield site<\/a> that has been empty for approximately 60 years.<\/p>\n

The Clyde Gateway regeneration programme, which is a partnership between Glasgow City Council, South Lanarkshire Council<\/a> and Scottish Enterprise<\/a>, is backed by the Scottish Government<\/a> and aims to achieve social, economic and physical change for communities over an area of 840 hectares. Over a 20-year period to 2028, the programme intends to deliver the construction of 10,000 new homes and the creation of 21,000 jobs.<\/p>\n

Affordable and energy efficient homes in Glasgow<\/h3>\n

Innes Smith, CEO of Springfield Properties, said: \u201cThis is another great contract for Springfield that strengthens our revenue visibility over the next two years.<\/p>\n

“We are also proud to be contributing to the Clyde Gateway regeneration, which is an important programme to stimulate growth in this area in the West of Scotland as well as provide much needed additional housing in Glasgow<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Andrew Kubski, director of development and asset management of West of Scotland Housing Association, said: \u201cWest of Scotland Housing Association is excited to be working with Springfield Properties on our first joint Glasgow project.<\/p>\n

“We have been supported both by our own funders and \u00a0funding provided by Glasgow City Council that allows us to deliver these 114 homes that will form an integral part of WSHA\u2019s development programme and growth strategy to create high-quality energy-efficient homes for our tenants and customers.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Councillor Kenny McLean, city convener for neighbourhoods, housing and public realm at Glasgow City Council, added: \u201cIt is pleasing to see the signing of this agreement, paving the way for the building of 114 affordable homes<\/a> in Dalmarnock and continuing the area\u2019s regeneration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe council is delighted to support this project, which\u00a0will see new quality homes built to the highest environmental standards.\u00a0These flats are of various sizes to suit different household needs.\u00a0This is another example of the many developments that are now bringing affordable and energy-efficient new homes to Glasgow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Springfield expects to commence construction in March 2020 and to complete handovers by the end of its 2021\/22 financial year.<\/p>\n
