Graham<\/a> has been awarded a three-year Legionella Management Services contract by Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council<\/a><\/h2>\n

The borough of Antrim and Newtownabbey covers 274 square miles from the shores of Lough Neagh in the west to Belfast Lough in the east. Over 140,000 people live in the area.<\/p>\n

The contract includes water monitoring, water sampling, Legionella written control schemes, risk assessments<\/a> and remedial works, with responsibility for approximately 70 buildings across the council area, ranging from public conveniences to leisure centres.<\/p>\n

Legionella management<\/h3>\n

Legionella is a bacterium that can cause a potentially fatal disease, Legionnaires\u2019 disease (legionellosis).<\/p>\n

Legionella is commonly found in warm water containing mechanical equipment such as cooling towers, evaporative condensers, air washers, humidifiers, misters, hot water heaters, spas, fountains, and plumbing fixtures.<\/p>\n

Planned Legionella management services accurately check for these bacteria in order to prevent disease, and to ensure the health and safety of facilities for staff, visitors and occupants.<\/p>\n

Martin Gillespie, Graham operations director, said: \u201cWe are delighted to have secured this important Legionella Management Services contract with Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.<\/p>\n

The contract will begin in March with the potential for a two-year extension.<\/p>\n
