Construction group, Galliford Try<\/a>, has secured contracts worth \u00a365m and a major framework place in the education sector<\/h2>\n

Galliford Try has signed a \u00a338m contract with Northumberland County Council<\/a> to build a new education campus<\/a> in Hexham for the Hadrian Learning Trust.<\/p>\n

The project will co-locate Hexham Middle School and Queen Elizabeth High School on the existing high school site, including the creation of new sports facilities, open to the community.<\/p>\n

Education sector framework<\/h3>\n

In the West Midlands, the company has signed a \u00a327m contract with the University of Birmingham<\/a> to build The University of Birmingham: The Exchange at 3 Centenary Square, in the heart of the city.<\/p>\n

The scheme will see the renovation of the former Municipal Bank building into spaces for research and public engagement, alongside collaborative working spaces and an incubator for graduate and student start-up businesses.<\/p>\n

Galliford Try has also secured a place on the University of Birmingham’s Main Contractor Construction Framework in the \u00a32.5m-\u00a310m and \u00a310m+ lots. The framework is set to run for the next 10 years, with both value bands carrying an estimated pipeline value of \u00a3700m over the period.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the launch of its Main Contractor Construction Framework, head of procurement at Birmingham University, Jonathan Jones, said: \u201cThe University of Birmingham has always prided itself on its scale of ambition to deliver first-rate services and resources for its students and staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith a planned additional infrastructure investment<\/a> of \u00a3500m over the next few years, we also wanted to develop further procurement opportunities by creating our own University construction framework.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis framework not only allows the university to optimise its value for money, but is also available for other universities to use and benefit from the collective spending power and contractor relationship development.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy working closely with our key contractors we can collectively develop additional opportunities with initiatives such as social value, environmental enhancements and sponsorship opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bill Hocking, chief executive of Galliford Try, commented: “We continue to make good progress in our key sectors and these excellent contract wins in the higher education and schools sectors are further demonstration of the quality of our offering.”<\/p>\n
