{"id":73908,"date":"2020-03-26T11:38:16","date_gmt":"2020-03-26T11:38:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=73908"},"modified":"2020-03-26T11:38:16","modified_gmt":"2020-03-26T11:38:16","slug":"covid-19-statements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/covid-19-statements\/73908\/","title":{"rendered":"Construction bodies respond to COVID-19 pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>In response to the spread of COVID-19 and in accordance with the guidance produced by the government and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/public-health-england\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Public Health England<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsria.com\/uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BSRIA<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciob.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CIOB<\/a> have released their statements to help combat the virus<\/h2>\n<p>The construction bodies have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and their statements reflect the severity of the situation.<\/p>\n<h3>BSRIA statement<\/h3>\n<p>BSRIA is taking all necessary precautions to protect staff and clients and adjusting operational processes to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/close-construction-sites\/73838\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">avoid health risks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A BSRIA spokesperson said: &#8220;We have implemented measures that allow our staff to provide services through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/construction-work-from-home\/73470\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">remote working<\/a> and adopted a flexible approach to ensure maximum business continuity while ensuring the usual high quality of the service.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Technology enables good communication as well as access to many of our service and product offerings online and we are taking full advantage of its capabilities to support our members and clients with information, guidance, consultancy and products, that are highly relevant today.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Access to our offices is now restricted but all teams can be reached by phone at usual hours, with calls being remotely transferred, and by emails.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>CIOB COVID-19 response<\/h3>\n<p>The CIOB is putting a number of measures in place in order to play our part in the efforts to support &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/covid-19-site-procedures\/73750\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social distancing<\/a>&#8216;\u202fand help minimise the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>A CIOB spokesperson said: \u201cOur local hub events and meetings will be postponed until the end of April 2020 at which point we will review the situation. We will continue to adapt our local events so that they can be run online where possible.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Delegates and potential delegates should contact their local CIOB event organiser for further details.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CIOB Annual Conservation Conference which was scheduled to take place in April has been postponed until the autumn. We are also postponing our visit to Sydney for the CIOB Members Forum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCIOB staff will not be attending external meetings with other companies or organisations to which they have been invited. Many of our meetings will be moved online.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOffice locations around the world will be closed for the time being. This includes our office in London, which is also home to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/quality-in-construction-2\/64208\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CIOB Academy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CIOB Academy will continue to support members and other customers during the office closure.
