Housebuilder Redrow has revealed that it will close all of its sites and offices, as it says supply chain difficulties left them with no other choice

Redrow has decided to close all of its sites due to supply chain issues which have occurred because of the coronavirus crisis.

The housebuilder had previously decided to continue with site work despite closing sales offices earlier this week.

However, today (27 March) it revealed all sites would now close and it was in talks with banks about securing more credit.

In a statement, the housebuilder said: “Our dedicated team is here to provide ongoing support, albeit in a new and remote way, as we continue to adapt to the significant impact of Covid-19.

“As ever, our priority is the wellbeing of our customers, colleagues and partners.

“Our Sales Centres all closed to visitors earlier in the week; we reduced the number of people on sites by focusing on those locations where customers urgently needed access to their new homes and our colleagues have been home-working wherever possible.

“Following these, and other steps we’ve carried out to implement Government advice, we are now undertaking a safe closure of all our offices and sites.”

It added: “Site closures will inevitably impact build schedules, although at this time we cannot confirm the full extent of that delay. For those who’ve moved into their home, and are within their warranty period, our customer service teams are on hand to answer queries.”

John Tutte, executive chairman of Redrow, commented: “These are unprecedented times. The actions we have announced today will give us the flexibility to manage the business through this turbulent period to ensure we are ready to resume production when it is safe to do so.”

So finally finally @RedrowHomes @Redrowplc decided to shut the London sites for 3 weeks or more. Good thing it took them 3 weeks of risking our lives to come up with this decision. They’ll probably announce with much fanfare later on. #COVID2019 #COVID19 #covid19UK
