{"id":74701,"date":"2020-04-09T11:36:46","date_gmt":"2020-04-09T10:36:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=74701"},"modified":"2020-04-09T11:36:46","modified_gmt":"2020-04-09T10:36:46","slug":"nhs-nightingale-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/nhs-nightingale-hospital\/74701\/","title":{"rendered":"Bristol conference centre to become NHS Nightingale hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kier.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kier<\/a> is to transform the conference centre at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uwe.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of the West of England<\/a> (UWE Bristol) into the next NHS Nightingale hospital to fight COVID-19<\/h2>\n<p>This site in the south-west of England, will be a new NHS Nightingale hospital and form part of the NHS\u2019 nationwide efforts to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>By transforming the conference centre, Kier will provide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbt.nhs.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">North Bristol NHS Trust<\/a> with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/harrogate-nightingale-hospital\/74505\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">additional beds and facilities<\/a>, to cater for up to 1,000 patients.<\/p>\n<p>Procured through the Department of Health and Social Care\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/procure22.nhs.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ProCure22<\/a> (P22) framework, Kier and its local supply chain are now on-site with works set to be complete and operational later this month.<\/p>\n<h3>Supporting the NHS<\/h3>\n<p>Anthony Irving, managing director for Kier Regional Building Western &amp; Wales, states: \u201cThis temporary hospital at the conference centre at the University of the West of England is vital to help support the NHS efforts with the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been agile to respond to the needs of the NHS and I\u2019d like to thank our supply chain partners, as well as Kier Professional Services who are providing us with engineering support.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The teams are delivering this new medical facility with such skill, determination and commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>NHS Nightingale hospitals<\/h3>\n<p>The Nightingale wards are, unfortunately, having to grow.
