Interserve<\/a> has handed over the new NHS Nightingale Hospital Birmingham to treat COVID-19 patients following 86,000 construction hours<\/h2>\n

The new Nightingale Hospital Birmingham at the NEC was officially opened by His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge and Matt Hancock, secretary of state for health & social care via a video link.<\/p>\n

The hospital will initially provide 800 patient beds equipped with ventilators.<\/p>\n

As the principal contractor, Interserve Construction delivered the first phase of the hospital<\/a>\u00a0on behalf of the NHS and the\u00a0University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.\u00a0More\u00a0than 400 employees and contractors and 60 Gurkhas from the British Army worked more than 86,000 construction hours on the project.<\/p>\n

The construction process was achieved in line with the social distancing rules set out by the UK Government and following the \u2018Site Operating Procedures<\/a>\u2019 guidance issued by the Construction Leadership Council.<\/p>\n

Interserve is continuing its work at the NHS Nightingale Hospital Birmingham increasing patient bed capacity up to 4,000 beds.<\/p>\n
