{"id":75016,"date":"2020-04-20T08:12:15","date_gmt":"2020-04-20T07:12:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=75016"},"modified":"2020-04-20T08:12:15","modified_gmt":"2020-04-20T07:12:15","slug":"nhs-louisa-jordan-complete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/nhs-louisa-jordan-complete\/75016\/","title":{"rendered":"Construction work complete on NHS Louisa Jordan hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Construction work is complete on the NHS Louisa Jordan hospital in Glasgow, as it prepares to treat coronavirus patients<\/h2>\n<p>From today (20 April), the NHS Louisa Jordan hospital at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/nhs-louisa-jordan\/74421\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Scottish Events Campus (SEC)<\/a> will be equipped and clinically ready to treat patients during the coronavirus outbreak.<\/p>\n<p>It is hoped the hospital will not be needed thanks to the public\u2019s continued efforts to stay at home and the other measures that are being taken to increase the number of NHS Scotland beds.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Construction of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NHSLouisaJordan?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NHSLouisaJordan<\/a> finishes today and if required, it will be clinically ready to treat patients from 20 April.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital has been built at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SECGlasgow?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SECGlasgow<\/a> to ensure NHS Scotland has enough capacity during the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/coronavirus?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#coronavirus<\/a> pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/B63S0YsGa4\">https:\/\/t.co\/B63S0YsGa4<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/moT732BM4k\">pic.twitter.com\/moT732BM4k<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Scottish Government (@scotgov) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/scotgov\/status\/1251880883239469058?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 19, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Health secretary Jeane Freeman, said: \u201cI want to offer my sincere gratitude and thanks to the contractors and NHS Scotland staff who have come from across Scotland to work tirelessly to transform the SEC into the NHS Louisa Jordan. You are an inspiration to us all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision on patients being accepted at the NHS Louisa Jordan will be reviewed on a regular basis. I hope this facility will not be needed as, alongside the public\u2019s continued efforts to stay at home, NHS Scotland has already taken steps to increase the number of NHS beds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe exceptional efforts of everyone involved in creating NHS Louisa Jordan during this unprecedented public health emergency will ensure this national facility will be able to treat patients from across Scotland, helping to save lives and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/tag\/nhs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">protect our NHS<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chief executive of NHS Louisa Jordan, Jill Young, added: \u201cBuilding the NHS Louisa Jordan has been an incredible effort.
