Bouygues UK<\/a> has revealed it will begin \u2018progressively\u2019 reopening its UK construction sites following a three-week shutdown<\/h2>\n

Bouygues UK\u00a0said it would \u2018progressively\u2019 re-open its sites and would operate at a condensed capacity over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

The firm shut its sites on 27 March, as the \u2018requirement that sites should maintain social distancing<\/a> and avoid public transport is not achievable and this, alongside the shortage of PPE and sanitising products makes it the only safe decision\u2019.<\/p>\n

However, in a recent statement (17 April), the company said: \u201cHaving closed all Bouygues UK sites (except critical healthcare projects) on 27 March, we have extensively reviewed the Site Operating Procedures<\/a> (SOP) published by the Construction Leadership Council, and aligned with the latest guidance from Public Health England, to implement the recommended procedures for our sites to operate safely in the current COVID-19 environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn agreement with our clients and supply chain, we have decided to re-open our sites from 20th April. To ensure we are adhering to the recommended Site Operating Procedures enforcing social distancing, sites will re-open progressively and will only be operating at reduced capacity over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government has made it clear that the construction industry plays a vital role<\/a> in supporting the UK economy and that, where we are confident we can safely operate our sites, we should do so.<\/p>\n

\u201cSafety remains our priority. We have been working in close collaboration with our staff, supply chain and clients to ensure work can continue safely.\u201d<\/p>\n
